Lymphatic Drainage
Lymphatic Drainage is a gentle, supportive treatment to help your body find its natural balance
If you are feeling heavy, sluggish, puffy or simply not quite yourself, your lymphatic system may be in need of a little support. This quiet but important system works in the background every day, helping your body to clear waste, reduce fluid build up and support your immune health.
Lymphatic drainage is a calm, gentle treatment that encourages this natural process. It is not a massage. Instead, I work carefully on specific lymph nodes in a thoughtful sequence across the body. The aim is to prompt and guide your system, rather than force it.
During your session, I will carry out a short sequence of precise, light movements. I will then leave the room for a few minutes. This pause is an important part of the treatment. It gives your body time to absorb the signals and begin its own response. I will return and continue with the next stage, allowing the work to build gradually and gently.
The treatment lasts around an hour. It is deeply calming and can be carried out through light clothing, so you can feel comfortable and at ease throughout.
How the lymphatic system works
The lymphatic system is a network of vessels and nodes that runs throughout your body. It carries a clear fluid called lymph, which contains waste products, toxins and immune cells.
Unlike the circulatory system, it does not have a pump like the heart. Instead, it relies on movement, breathing and the natural rhythm of the body to keep things flowing. When this flow becomes slow or congested, you may notice swelling, fatigue, brain fog or a general feeling of heaviness.
Lymph nodes act like small filtering stations. They help to clean the lymph fluid and support your immune response. When these nodes are stimulated in a gentle, structured way, it can help the whole system work more effectively.
Why lymphatic drainage can help
By encouraging the natural movement of lymph, this treatment can support your body in clearing excess fluid and waste more efficiently. It can also help to settle the nervous system, leaving you feeling lighter, calmer and more at ease.
People often seek lymphatic drainage for support with:
- Fluid retention and swelling
• Tired, heavy legs
• Post surgery recovery (with medical approval)
• Sinus congestion
• Headaches
• Hormonal changes
• Fatigue and low energy
• Skin concerns such as puffiness or dullness
• A general feeling of being run down or overwhelmed
Many people also choose this treatment simply as a way to support their overall wellbeing and give their body space to reset.
A gentle approach with lasting effects
Research suggests that manual lymphatic techniques can help to increase lymph flow and reduce swelling, particularly in cases of lymphoedema. Studies have shown improvements in limb volume, discomfort and quality of life when the lymphatic system is supported in this way. While results vary from person to person, many people notice they feel lighter, clearer and more relaxed after treatment.
After your treatment
Your body will continue to respond after your session, so a little care afterwards can make a real difference.
Drinking plenty of water helps your system to flush through what has been moved. Gentle movement, such as walking, also supports the natural flow of lymph.
It is best to avoid long periods of sitting still straight after your treatment. Instead, allow your body to keep things moving in a calm, steady way.
A quiet space for your body to reset
This is a treatment that works with your body, not against it. There is no force, no rush and nothing for you to do except rest and allow the process to unfold.
If you are feeling out of balance, overwhelmed or simply in need of some gentle support, lymphatic drainage can offer a calm and reassuring place to begin
